“Heeding the Guidance of the Spirit pointing towards the future with vision and courage”

This theme became enfleshed in our lived experiences during our Cluster Assembly. The sisterly relations characterized of being a “WE”, with the valuable presence of Milagros and Amor facilitated the flow of the Spirit in our sharing of our life and mission as CTs, reports, feedbacks, common search and decisions. We want to share our Cluster Declaration as a result of the evaluation of our various presences in skills training centers (Talitha Koum-Alotau, Talleres de Nazaret Training Center-Korobosea, Archdiocesan Social Apostolate Center-Boroko), Loreto Hostel for young women workers-Boroko, Diocesan Youth Ministry-Alotau and other pastoral services in the Diocese of Alotau-Sideia, as follows:

Our Communitarian Apostolate Plan, as SSJ in PNG Cluster, is embedded with the following Charismatic elements:
  • Women-worker-religious
  • Charity as principal norm of conduct, compassion and forgiveness
  • Prayer that springs from life and geared towards life
  •   Industria Cristiana
  • Women workers and young women at risk as target sectors
  •  Simple lifestyle
  •  Poor working world
  • Attentive to the signs of the times and dialogue with the world

We want to continue to live out with greater fidelity these OMG Elements
§
  • Participation, Co-responsibility and Team working
  • Responsible Freedom
  • Mutual Accountability
  • Decision making in consensus
  • Interconnectedness and Interdependence
  • Discernment
  • Mutual Accountability

We want to strengthen the following impact which we were able to draw out from our target groups:
  • Empowerment
  • Valuing of their dignity as persons, especially women workers  and of manual work
  • Harnessing their capacity for critical        thinking and social responsibility
  • Valuing of prayer-work
  • Partners in mission
  • Preparation for employment through skills training and formation and livelihood opportunities
We want to integrate these new trends of Religious Life such as inter-faith, interculturality and care of creation in the living out of our Life and Mission.

With the strong desire to fulfill the dream of Fr. Francisco Butinyà on this the Year of our Founder, we want to expand our SSJ presences in PNG or in neighboring countries.

There was a harmony of prayer-work-rest-recreation that a space was given to be with the residents of Loreto Hostel during the Mini-Cultural Night where we sang Filipino songs in our curtain-made costumes to the delight of the young ladies with their cheers. In turn, we witnessed the richness of their cultures through songs, dances, costumes and power point presentations.

Openness, spontaneity, gratitude, generosity, discernment and audacity were the gifts and fruits of the Spirit that we enjoyed in our Assembly coupled with the nearness of the sisters through the greetings, messages and prayers conveyed by Lillian and the sisters in our Province.

Wilhelmina elected as Cluster Coordinator

Finally, we are grateful to Wilhelmina, who received with disponibility, her re-election as Cluster Coordinator. The sisters expressed their continuous support and collaboration to her to keep moving forward with vision and courage.
