Holy Family Province Provincial Assembly

(2nd Communication)

The Spirit of Jesus in Nazareth continued guiding and inspiring us as we moved along…

The following 3 very important days were spent looking at, reflecting and enriching, through small group sharing, the synthesized mid-term evaluation on the seven strategic objectives namely: Communities-Taller, Our Presence in the World and Pastoral Care of Vocations, Responsible Use of the Goods and the Economy with Cost Cutting Measures, Evangelizing Presence, Woman, Formation and Organic Model of Governance, which on the second day was presented to us by Milagros Maravilla and her team members. All the communities previously worked on the evaluation of the Strategic Objectives except that of Strategic Objective no. 3- Integration of the SSJ and the Lay Josephines. Instead, the collated report of the LJ and the SSJ on the Objective was  presented to the group by the Sr. Catalina Cañonero, the LJ link person.

The process we underwent during these 3 days was, indeed, very life-giving, well participated in and challenging. It was very inspiring to see that the Province as a whole has grown in the different strategic objectives especially in the living-out of the following OMG elements namely: participation, interdependence, mutual accountability and consensus in arriving at community-taller decisions. It is, at the same, time challenging for all of us acknowledge our loopholes and commit ourselves to improve in making discernment as our way of life, in being consistent in our communication to the different spheres most especially through the congregational website and different blogs, and in our understanding and living-out of shared authority. Very notable and well appreciated is the active and enriching participation and contribution of the young sisters in the groups and in the assembly.

The three link persons of the General Commissions namely Economy, Formation and Commission on Communications were also given time to report on their respective commissions.

The well prepared liturgy for the day to day Eucharistic Celebration had helped
us a lot in appreciating and celebrating our different realities and cultures. There is truly richness in diversity! The 2nd day Mass was in Filipino language, 3rd day in Vietnamese, 4th day songs were in Papua New Guinea’s languages. The homilies had been both inspiring and challenging. The priests presider, oriented beforehand of the theme of the gathering, very fittingly addressed the groups need for the day to day spiritual nourishment.

Highlighting the 2nd day Eucharistic Celebration was the Rite of Acceptance of the seven (7) Vietnamese  candidates to the Pre- Novitiate:  Luan, Thuy, Xuan,
Hien, Phuong, Vuong and Hue. Sr. Fe Rabina ,SSj – Formator of the Prenovices, together with the Formative Community presented them to our Prov. Coordinator, Sr. Milagros A. Maravilla,SSJ who accepted them in the name of the Congregation in the Holy Family Province. The moment of greetings was a very joyful, inspiring and heartwarming scene with  SSJs welcoming the young ladies, the 6th batch of the initial formands of the mission in Vietnam!
