The 8th Visayas-Vietnam Cluster Assembly with the theme “SSJs radiating joy and hope to the Poor Working World", was held at the Bonifacia Hall of St. Theresita’s Academy in Silay City, Negros Occidental from October 25 – 30, 2015. All the 19 members from the communities-taller of the Visayas Region in Cebu City, Iloilo City, and Silay City including the community-taller of Tan Binh at Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam were complete in attendance. The participants were composed of three Vietnamese juniors the youngest of whom is 27 years old, 1 Filipina junior and the rest were all perpetually professed sisters with Mother Magdalena Braganza as the oldest at 94 years of age. The presence of Milagros Maravilla the Provincial and her vicar Marcelina Sta. Cruz was deeply appreciated by the cluster members for their support and accompaniment.

The
five-day cluster assembly was a grace-filled experience for all the sisters who
were nourished by the daily celebration of the Holy Eucharist and the homilies
of Fr. Alfred Maravilla, the Director General for the Missions of the Salesians
coupled with the half-day talk of Fr. Segundo Chao, a Josefino alumnus of the
Jesuit Diocesan Seminary. Both priests focused on Consecrated life and challenged
the participants to be committed to the gift of SSJ consecration and mission by
keeping the fire in their hearts burning with passion for Jesus and His people.

The
content and process of the CT reports presentation were very enriching and
served as opportunities for the communities to have the mutual exchange of greater
knowledge and deeper understanding of the richness of the charism made visible
in the different presences within the cluster. Everyone was disposed to learn particularly from the interventions of Mila and
Marcie and manifested the desire to grow in
its commitment to live out the SSJ spirituality and mission with dynamic
fidelity to the spirit of the founders. The sisters were also grateful for the update
provided by Mila as well as the sharing of Recie and Judy on
their Bolivian encounter. The
faithful attendance and active participation of Mother Magdalena in all the
sessions showed her deep love and concern for the cluster that everyone considered her
a source of inspiration and a living icon of SSJ consecration.

The
cluster assembly was joy-filled experience of belonging to one family.
The bond was made stronger in all the activities as the members enjoyed the
presence of each one with all simplicity and naturalness. The hospitality and
the comforts of a home provided by CT Silay and their collaborators was truly heart-warming.
The participation of sisters in the STA culminating event and that of the
foundation- laying of the science building demonstrated the cluster’s support
and oneness with the school community. Likewise, the fun and laughter that marked the
joint activity with the Lay Josephines
at the end of the assembly was an experience of closeness and harmony in
relationship. The prayers and greetings
from the individual persons, communities and collaborators of the different
circles were indeed life-giving. All in all, we attribute the success of this
cluster assembly to God’s goodness and grace together with the joint efforts and
generosity of all who have been part of this 8th Visayas -Vietnam
Cluster Assembly.
