The Opening Mass of the Assembly, presided by Fr. Elias Ayuban, CMF, Provincial Superior, invited and inspired all of us, in his homily, to embark on this provincial journey with the theme, “Reimagining Spaces for the Charism, in Synodality, committed to the Emerging Reality, with great trust and confidence in our God who is our Father.
We had the hour of adoration of the Blessed Sacrament right after the Mass. We were one at prayer to dispose ourselves to humbly open ourselves fully to the promptings and inspirations of the Spirit of Jesus in Nazareth who will lead us all along the way during our Provincial Assembly.
The Provincial Assembly was officially opened by Marcelina Sta. Cruz at the St. Joseph Conference Room after welcoming and motivating all of us to plunge into what is being asked of us in this Assembly which is a journey together with Jesus. Her opening remarks was well received through very loud applause signifying our full collaboration and participation.
The following days’ activities went on smoothly, thanks to the concerted effort of our Provincial Team who worked on the Syntheses of the Communities-Taller done by the Cluster Coordinating Group. The consensus was the manner of deciding as a Provincial body as we tackled the various documents: the Life and Mission of our Province and of the Congregation; the Congregational Evaluation of the Strategic Plan; the Evaluation of our Provincial Operative Plan; and the Evaluation by the Provincial Team of the Implementation of the Recommendations of the Roadmap.
Truly, the experience of synodality has been very palpable as we went through the process of personal reflection, group, and plenary consensus which entailed listening to each other and being sensitive to the stirrings of the Spirit for us to arrive at the approval of all the documents presented to us.
Discerning our future with interior communion, the integrity of compassion, and interwoven commitment, we came up with a consensus on the Fundamental Themes with the challenges they respond to which will guide the journey of our Congregation in the next six (6) years. The discernment experience in the plenum was indeed an experience of being led by the Holy Spirit. Joyfully, we gave our resounding YES!
We felt
the strong guidance of the Holy Spirit as we made a consensus on the most
adequate type of structure of governance for the present time and our reasons;
and on our sisters in the Province to be proposed for the different congregational
leadership services; and most especially when the sisters of each Cluster elected
their respective delegates to the Final Phase of our 23rd General Chapter.
There were updates, information, and concerns presented to the Province
followed by writing our evaluation of the Provincial Assembly using the
appreciative inquiry approach.
At 4:30 P.M. on March 3, 2023, we gratefully and joyfully celebrated our
Closing Mass presided by Fr. Eugene Cañete, MJ, the General Superior of the
Missionaries of Jesus. It was before the Final
Blessings that Sr. Marcelina gave her words of thanks to Fr. Eugene, to all the
Assembly participants for their active participation, and to all the
collaborators and the Aspirant for their great assistance during the past four
days.
As we continue
to embark on our congregational journey “To Reimagine Spaces for our Charism,
in Synodality, Committed to the Emerging Reality”, we put our total trust and
surrender ourselves to our loving and compassionate God who has been present to
us and has accompanied us during our Assembly. To Him be glory forever and ever.
Amen.
