12th VISAYAS-VIETNAM CLUSTER ASSEMBLY (SEPTEMBER 18-20, 2020)

The 12th Visayas-Vietnam Cluster Assembly was held virtually last September 18 to 20, 2020, participated by 19 sisters from 4 Communities-Taller: Vietnam, Cebu City, Iloilo City and Silay City. We were blessed with the presence of Sr. Marcelina, (Provincial Coordinator) Sr. Yolanda (PNG Cluster Coordinator and Sr. Jennifer (Luzon Cluster Coordinator). Though far from one another, the Google-meet connected us and we experienced the lively presence of each one.

We felt the abiding presence and constant guidance of the Holy Spirit in all the activities and encounters as each one of us actively and enthusiastically participated in them. The online Eucharistic Celebration and the Opening and Closing Prayer each day strengthened and nourished us, keeping us close to the Source and Giver of everything.

Our Cluster Assembly lasted only for 2 days, yet was, indeed, very enriching and renewing. The following are its highlights:

v The inspiring message of our Cluster Coordinator Sr. Victoria when she opened the Assembly motivated and oriented us about the objectives and the activities to be done during the assembly.

v The video talk on “SSJ in the Time of the Pandemic and Beyond” by Archbishop Socrates Villegas led us to gaze at St. Joseph, our Father and protector, whose name we bear as Siervas. The insights shared by the Archbishop deepened our knowledge and appreciation of our beloved Patron as a steward, a husband and a worker and challenged us to follow his example in living our life and mission according to design of God.

v Using as reference the Provincial Assembly Proposals (the result of the just concluded Provincial Assembly last September 13, 2020) and undergoing the process of personal reflection, C-T sharing, reporting and enrichment in the plenum, each of our Communities-Taller was able to identify and conclude the significant elements/topics which it intends to realize during these coming 3 years, incorporating them in the Communitarian Apostolic Plan.

v Following the same process mentioned above, we were able to come up with propositions which contain some important elements/ topics with concrete activities that we would work together as a Cluster for the coming three years. The Sisters of the Cluster felt the need to promote more of virtual encounters or online sharing among us that will cultivate the prophetic and significant  dimensions of Communities- Taller.

v After the Eucharistic Adoration for an hour, we sent individually to Marcelina Sta. Cruz our proposal for the next Cluster Coordinator with the reasons for our choice. The action of the Holy Spirit in each one was very palpable. We were all happy with the result and the reasons read to us affirmed our unanimous choice.

v The very touching and challenging Power Point presentation entitled: Who Were You Fr. Butinya (by Rosario Hernandez, SSJ) integrated in our Closing Liturgy, brought us closer to the mind and heart of our founder. “When I found the treasure of Nazareth I did not hide it …I wanted  everybody to participate in it, those who have to earn their  bread  by working, those who need light which will give meaning to their work and ordinary living…” Yes, it is Nazareth and will always be Nazareth, our common treasure…

v  Lastly, Sr. Victoria declared the closing of the Cluster Assembly, acknowledging with much gratitude the presence and active participation of each one, those who have accompanied us with their prayers, their greetings and especially the presence of Sr. Marcie, Sr. Yoly and Sr. Jenny, and summoning us with these words: “May Nazareth continue to creatively illumine our hearts.”  ( PPT Fr. Butinya )
